In a groundbreaking collaboration, Solis proudly announces the successful completion of the National Cricket Centre's (NCC) solar project, together with OSW and LONGi Asia-Pacific, executed by Hembrows Electrical. This initiative, led by Cricket for Climate and supported by Cricket Australia, marks a significant stride towards sustainable energy practices in Cricket and the broader sporting arena.
The impressive solar system, generating a robust 285kW, now stands as a beacon of environmental responsibility. This capacity fulfills nearly half of the NCC's energy requirements, embodying the commitment of cricket organizations to cleaner, greener energy solutions that also put money back to cricket through reduced energy costs.
Project Highlights:
Cricket for Climate: The project was initiated by Cricket for Climate introducing 60kW solar panels to kickstart the transformation. Cricket Australia collaborated with an additional investment of $226,000 and extra 220kW capacity.
Generous Sponsorship: The NCC solar project was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Solis, OSW and LONGi Asia-Pacific. Their commitment to sustainability is evident in the successful implementation of this solar endeavor.
Economic and Environmental Impact: The NCC project is expected to save $50,000 in energy costs within the first year alone, contributing to a reduction of approximately 398 tons of carbon emissions annually. Based on current energy pricing, this converts to close to $1million in savings over the 20 year lifespan of the project and removal of close to 8,000 tons of carbon.
Cricket for Climate's commitment to Sustainability:
"We are delighted to partner with Cricket Australia LONGi, OSW, and Solis in this landmark solar project at the National Cricket Centre. The successful completion of this initiative showcases our commitment to sustainability, both in terms of economic savings and environmental impact," stated Cricket for Climate Founder and Pat Cummins, Australian men's Cricket captain.
Cricket for Climate acknowledges the invaluable support of industry partners LONGi, OSW, and Solis, who generously donated solar and inverter infrastructure for this and other community cricket club projects. Their contributions have enabled the installation of solar power across five cricket clubs, reflecting a shared dedication to environmental stewardship.
